Vehicle Window Film Aftercare
Allow the Film to Cure
After having your vehicle's window film installed, it is important to allow the film sufficient time to bond to the glass.
As a general guide, keep the windows closed for at least 24 hours as per the stickers after installation, or for the period recommended by your installer.
During the curing period:
Do not roll the windows down for the next 48 hours.
Do not attempt to press out bubbles or lift the film.
Avoid cleaning the inside of the newly tinted glass for a three week period.
Do not apply stickers, decals or suction cups directly to the film.
You may notice small water bubbles or a slightly hazy appearance over the next 6 week period. These should gradually disappear as the film cures.
Cleaning Your Tinted Windows
Once the film has cured, cleaning is simple.
Use:

A clean, soft microfibre cloth
Clean water
A mild, non-abrasive glass cleaner
Spray the cleaning solution onto your cloth rather than directly onto the glass where
possible.
Gently wipe the surface and dry with a clean microfibre cloth.
Avoid abrasive materials
Never use:
Scouring pads
Rough sponges
Abrasive cloths
Razor blades
Sharp objects
Hard scraping tools
Products with ammonia (Window lean)
These can scratch or damage the film.
Take Care Around the Edges
Avoid picking, scratching or rubbing the edges of the film.
If you notice an edge beginning to lift, do not attempt to stick it back down yourself.
Contact your installer so the film can be assessed.
Be Careful With Seatbelts
When using your vehicle, take care when releasing your seatbelt.
Allowing the seatbelt to repeatedly snap against the window can potentially damage the film over time.
Avoid Adhesives
Avoid applying stickers, decals or other adhesive products directly to your window film unless they are specifically suitable for use on window film.
When removing adhesive products, take care not to scratch or lift the film.
What If You Notice Bubbles or Haze?
Small bubbles, moisture or a hazy appearance immediately after installation are generally part of the normal curing process.
Allow the film time to dry before contacting your installer.
If bubbles, haze or other issues remain after the recommended curing period, contact
Solasafe so that we can assess the installation.
What If There Is a Problem?
If you notice peeling, lifting, cracking, discolouration, unusual bubbling or any other issue, don't attempt to remove or repair the film yourself.
Take a photograph and contact Solasafe. Our team can assess the issue and advise on the appropriate next step.
Keep Your Film Looking Its Best
